#tumblrcrushthursday

I am super excited to share with all you lovely readers the second installment of #tumblrcrushthursday. It's thursday which means today is the day I finally get to head to Jersey (cue all the happy tears) an eight hour trip to New Jersey is so worth it. I start my job Saturday and honestly, I have never been more ready or excited for this summer to officially start. And I have a pretty amazing feeling already... It's currently storming as I'm making my final edits on this post... but I view it more as wiping the slate clean. ((Anything is possible kinda magic))

Anyway… back to tumblr. I am obsessed, it's a great way to get inspiration but also be a little more yourself (pinterest is amazing and I love it… but there is a sense of privacy only tumblr brings.) Thanks to tumblr now my day dreams are filled with fashion, beautiful beach interior, and all the Lilly a girl could imagine. And a ton of photo inspiration and (a lot like Pinterest) has ruined me with photo expectations for my wedding and evidently my friends need to take 47363 candids of me at all times...

I am excited to share this edition's top five tumblr accounts (seeing as two of them I actually know in real life… and they inspire me not only through tumblr but who they are as people.) I think that's another beautiful part of the internet as a whole though, even if we don't actually know them in real life… we get to see a glimpse into who they truly are and their beautiful souls. It's a real beautiful thing.

For me that's the beauty and allure of tumblr. It's where everyone shows you the key to their heart, and you get to join in on the fun and together make masterpieces.

Loving Lately

((I really just want to apologize for the serious lack of creativity and of outfit posts or anything FUN! My computer has been on the fritz making life that much harder, and honestly… I'm not sure when it's going to get fixed or when a new one will be in my grasp. So I thank you in advance for keeping up with this crazy journey I call life and for bearing with me as I probably will start blogging without a computer (mobile app for the win!) I have plenty of outfit posts lined up, but between the rain and the whole no computer thing… it puts a damper on things. Anyway hope your weekend is going well and better than this computer fiasco is treating mine.))

Jadelynn Brooke

Remember how I said I'm just not a t-shirt person?? Well Jadelynn Brooke makes me rethink my stand. The company is ran by three adorable sisters who are small town Southern girls. "We are all very different, but we share one important thing, our Faith and Family are always first. Sure, we argue and get really upset when one of us "borrows" things…. but when push comes to shove, we have a sisterhood that no one can come in between." ((Also how absolutely adorable is this shirt… ordered for Fourth of July… check!))
Perversion Mascara
I know I'm one to talk (type) your ear off on products I like, enjoy, or just think are pretty but I seriously am not saying this lightly…. If you need mascara this is the one for YOU. (That is if you can use any mascara… seeing as I know due to allergies or sensitive skin… sometimes beauty products just don't work out.) If you remember my recount on all the Lilly madness… I took full advantage of being in PA and went to King of Prussia and the Sephora store. (praise Him!) While there I was battling back and forth on either the Perversion or Better Than Sex Mascara. Due to a friend's recommendation I left with Perversion and honestly I haven't looked back. When you find the mascara you can throw on and just leave the house (I mean and swipe your lipgloss too) then you know you've found your mascara soul mate.

Infallible Foundation
I have already mentioned how amazing this foundation is and how it's just as nice as Makeup Forever's HD Foundation… but guys this truly is the holy grail of drugstore. My favorite part of this foundation is how long it truly lasts. I can put it on and never touch it up and it still has the same amount of coverage as it did when I first applied it. The only reason I use a primer, is for the mattering effect seeing as I have pretty oily skin. If you aren't oily, this is the only product you need for a flawless canvas! ((as Kandee Johnson would say… you're foundation is the most important ;) )) Also if you follow me on Snapchat… I am sorry because you've already seen me post about this mascara like 4746 times. ( LOVE IT. )

NYX Buttergloss… Tiramisu
I had bought this color last summer and then proceeded to lose it from the move. So imagine my happiness when I just recently found it. I am obsessed, it's the perfect nude color to add some color but not too much where you feel awkward if you weren't wearing your normal makeup routine. (Seriously this with mascara and I am golden.)

Beauty Secrets Nail Polish Remover
I know this is kind of a really weird thing to put down on a list, I realize that. It has an almost floral perfumey scent to it which I really enjoy. For nail polish remover, I find it extremely easy to get the actual polish off. I don't know about you, but usually I'm scrubbing the same finger for what feels like forever… and with this specific polish I'm already onto my second hand.

Physician Formula Powder Palette
I know highlighters are all the rage, but I honestly am not the biggest fan. Not really in general, but more on my skin just because mixed with my oily skin… I just feel like a wax figure gone wrong. But on the days I want a little extra glow, I dust on this mineral glow pearls palette and get the perfect amount of sheen… so I don't look like a sweaty mess (cuz that's not attractive lol.)

Makeup Forever Translucent Powder
While talking about not looking like a wax figure gone wrong… here is the real trick up my sleeve. My own little fairy godmother in a bottle… translucent powder. I usually carry this specific one in my purse for touch ups through out the day. But if you want a quick pick me up from feeling like a dripping gross mess, this will do it!

On The Radar: 2015 Rompers and Two-Piece Sets

When rompers became the newest thing, I admit I hated them. To be they just seemed like uncomfortable women diapers to make the everyday life... awkward. I wouldn't look at them, try them on, they didn't exist in my world.

That is, until I accidentally picked up one from the rack at Forever21 and since it was already in the dressing room with me... I tried it on and my view immediately changed. They're functional, more comfortable then it may seem at first, and I kid you not... I truly believe there is a romper out there for any one.

I am currently on the search for the perfect romper (or two or three...) one to really dress up with heels and one to wear casually when I just don't want to try after working all day. (Ya know summer were lazy is slightly justified) Here are a few of my favorites... (like ummm the scalloped number 7!?!?) I actually tried on 5 in the store (Express) and loved it but didn't want to pay that much money... and well it's on sale (!!!!)

***Just reminding yall, always leave a comment if you need me to search for a romper for you (within a price range or anything) I have been asked to look for bathing suits before, and I absolutely love and don't mind doing it at all!***

((This weekend we're doing the final moving and as bittersweet as it is... it's one step closer to jersey and my summer so... weekend go by fast.))

Summer Make-Up Routine

Lately, I have been getting a lot of questions about makeup products I like and use regularly so here are some of my favorites recently, seeing as summer is finally upon us!! I always get an extra confidence boost when summer finally rolls around. Everyone's in a pretty relaxing mood, the sun is shining, and I am finally tan (!!!!). While I must be completely honest... the tanner I get the more the routine ends up being primer and mascara unless I am going out. **That's why your primer and mascara choices are so key, they're your staple pieces that tie in your whole entire look. The best part of summer is the sheer and light products you use, I'd say the heaviest product I do use is my concealer (when I do use it). For me the biggest makeup struggle (summer wise) for me is that I actually prefer the look of my full on foundation (L'Oreal Infallible Foundation) over the BB cream I use (just because BB cream in general gives me that wanted dewey glow but because I am oily.. I get self conscious it's a little overboard naturally. Garnier's BB Cream (oil free version) is a nice sheer summer foundation though, even for the oily. On days I really am worried though, I do dab on a little translucent powder (I have used both NYX which I linked and Makeup Forever's).  I never worry that my face resembled melting candles with it on.. ;)

In order of how I use them:
1. Sonia Kashuk Perfecting Mattifying Primer (Oily skin people you need the Mattifying version.. they have two others)
5.L'Oreal Color Lift Blush (shade Peach Gold Lift) & Brush
6. Anastasia's Brow Wiz (shade Dark Brown) ((sometimes I use shadow from the Lorac Palette instead))
7. Urban Decay's Naked Palette (First) (Sidecar, Buck, Virgin, and Toasted are some favorites)
8.Define-A-Lash Eyeliner (shade Ebony Black)
9. Urban Decay's Perversion Mascara (just picked this up & obsessed. I don't even use an eyelash curler often)
11. NYX Buttergloss (shade Tiramisu, a great go to color for everyday)
12. Essie Nail Polish (Ballet Slippers
13. Victoria Secret's Noir Tease Body Spray (go-to since high school lol)

Honestly, I just can't wait til the day I am tan enough to really only want to use primer and mascara because those are the days *cue praise emojis, sun emojis, and all the heart eyes*

The Lilly Lover's Black Friday

GUYS. Is this real life? I spent a whirlwind of a little over twenty four hours on a spur of the moment decision to drive all the way to Philly from Southern Virginia. Why the madness? The Lilly Pulitzer Warehouse Sale.  Before going me and my friend researched heavily, and to be completely honest much of the information we received was extremely misleading. Which is why I decided to recap our experience on the blog.

We left to head to Philly around 5pm and made it there around 12-12:30am. (with a stop in Bethesda for dinner... Tyber Bierhaus, random I know..) When we arrived at the warehouse people we just arriving like us and many we're already camped out. ((I highly suggest that if you decide to ever do the sale in Philly to seriously consider camping out)) The sale opened that Thursday morning at 5am, so when we arrived to the sale we decided a cat nap in the car was the way to go. (While this isn't the safest route to go about things... I will say this isn't any different that camping out. I felt safe because of all the people camping out and arrive to and from the warehouse parking lot... if you choose to drive up last minute like we did, sleeping in your car shouldn't be a concern.) We woke up a little before 4am and changed ((You want to wear something warm. I can't stress this enough.)) I have the habit of never packing what I actually need (like dry shampoo or umm anything not shorts.) While I honestly was okay (my only concern was leg hair growing..) I have a high tolerance for cold.... my friend had on yoga pants and suggested that she should have worn leggings underneath sweatpants.

We got in line and started the adventure (it was already looped all the way to the back of the building by 4am!) We were fortunate enough to have some really nice people around us, everyone around was pretty down to earth and not rude at all. Directly in front of us were a mother and daughter who came all the way from Nashville (!!!!) a real class act, who honesty made the endless waiting enjoyable. Within twenty minutes (maybe even sooner honestly) we started moving, which completely shocked me. We also moved fast. We were all talking about how we bet we'd make it into the sale by 6:30am (yes, that's how fast it was moving at the beginning) Oh and did I mention my friend had work... in Virginia... at 5pm... that night??

It took maybe 35-40 minutes to get to the water tower, which is about the halfway point to being inside the building. Once getting to the water tower, up a ways is a white tent ((this tent is pure torture.)) The thing is the tent makes you feel like you're almost there... I mean you have to be. The tent is hoping, they even have speakers playing a DJ's mix, and there is discarded trash and half drank champagne bottles and food everywhere (which while gross... makes you think the partying stopped for a good reason.) ((Seriously evidently, at some point before 4am the tent is where the party is at.)) The tent moves painfully slow... we were set back about an hour. We kept pushing the time back for when we'd actually get in the sale, moving from 7am to 7:30am... I believe it took us about forty five minutes to an hour to finally get through the tent. Also while in the tent, the CEO comes out ((fun fact, if you ask he will gladly pose for a photo op.. I saw this done many times.)) You are also given wavers which I knew nothing about. Nothing serious or scary just that you won't rip off your clothes (ugh way to ruin the party), fight other girls over the last Lilly dress, take photos while inside, or buy the items for wholesale. ((Bring a pen, you may not always be next to a nice lady who will let you borrow hers.))

Once you get past the tent you are finally on the front side of the building (you can see the door!!!) This is when people start getting a little less chatty and a whole lot of why am I even here. I start resenting the workers who mom's bring them coffee, contemplate leaving, and start to wonder if the people who leave their chairs by the side of the building ever come back for them?? (I am looking at you Merlin, did you go back and get that nice chair of yours!?!?) By now you can stare at either the Lilly jeep or the people coming out with five bags in hand and seriously consider just knocking them down and running with their clothes (totally kidding... just sometimes no coffee can make a girl crazy) It took us about thirty minutes to finally get to the door, where there is a door man (seriously, not prepared for that.) But with a doorman, them only letting in a few at a time, and visibly no line inside from what you can see it seems like you.are.almost.there ((Don't be fooled, lines is the main theme of the day!))

Once you finally are allowed inside you get the pleasure of waiting in another line, by now it's 8am (remember when we originally thought we'd be in the sale by 6:30am LOLZ) The only good thing about this line is the fact that they have a stand where food and coffee is being sold. I jumped out about bought two donuts and two coffees that totaled up to $10. ((The coffee was horrible... but you take what you can get.)) It took about another hour to get through that line, making it 9am when we finally got into the actual sale. Remember how my friend had work at 5pm in VA?? Right before entering the sale, someone covered her shift!!! (Praise Jesus, He is faithful.. even in the small things.)

It's crazy inside, but an organized crazy. Plenty of organized boxes with size and patterns above. Nothing really too crazy out of order and for the most part all dresses were on the right racks. Now I was under the impression (thanks to many different blog posts) that the prices weren't similar to the two online sales (one in January and one in August) more like dresses for $30 and great deals on shirts and plenty of things for $15-20. Now doesn't that all sound too good to be true? That's because it absolutely was. ((The warehouse sale is the same exact sale and discount you will get while doing the online sales.)) Now yes, there is the one exception to the rule... Samples and Seconds. That is where the best deals are found (and honestly only where you can find those above prices in my experience.) This is where you found products that had been returned, samples that never made it to production, or the clothes used in visual displays. Now there were some great deals, I am talking $15-20 dollar shorts.. the only catch was you needed to be a size double zero. I am guessing that those who camped out got the actual samples and seconds goodies that would make anyone swoon?

While there seriously are amazing deals going on (I mean $89 for a Lilly dress... you can't complain) these amazing deals do happen on the online sale. I say unless you live in a two hour radius (ehh even then), plan super in advance and camp out, or are just really bored and want something to do.... save yourself the trouble, get a cup of coffee and shop online next time.

Was it an experience? Absolutely. Do I regret it? No way. Would I do it again? Probably never, honestly. In conclusion, here is what I learned:

  • Unless you are within a two to three hour radius, skip it and go back to sleep.
  • This is not a shotgun decision to be taken lightly, while it's doable... you want more thought put into it.
  • BRING WARM CLOTHES.
  • In addition to that, wearing leggings under your sweatpants and a t-shirt under your sweatshirt will be helpful for trying on your clothes and skipping the forever line for the dressing rooms (while not breaking your waver.)
  • Bring snacks, you truly never know how long the line will be and you WILL envy everyone with snacks and coffee.
  • Bring a pen, you will need one. No one wants to be stressing over finding a pen at the last minute before getting into the sale (finally.)
  • This is not the place to bring a one-month old baby or a puppy. It just isn't, think of the baby or puppy. Especially a newborn... they shouldn't be out more than five hours a day and a crazy warehouse sale isn't the place.
  • Seriously consider the online sale, it's the way to go.
  • Also at the end of the sale they give you 10% off coupon for the Lilly store in King of Prussia's mall (the shorts were discounted the exact same as the warehouse sale.) EXACTLY THE SAME.

Lilly Picks I'm Currently Loving (Can You Tell I Love "Resort White Red Right Return"):

What's on your Lilly wish list? Have you ever experienced the craziness that is the Lilly Warehouse Sale? And seriously, were the deals ever that amazing because I looked and did not find them. Like did I even go to the same sale?? lol.

Summer Lovin'

If you didn't get the chance check out my #breakyoumake post it's an amazing campaign hosted by Chobani all about those who deserve a break... I wrote about my bosses for the past four years. While writing the post I could practically feel the beach air and smell the sunscreen, I am soo ready for summer to really begin. Then this morning, mail day finally arrived (eeeepppp!!) and my bathing suits came in from Victoria Secret. There's just something about summer, new bathing suits, and the anticipation of finally getting color.

Number two even was just delivered to my house (because last summer it accidentally made it's way into the dryer and the jeweled melted into a heaping mess...)

Because when you find the right swimsuit, basically nothing can stop you from the best summer ever...

Also Happy National Donuts Day ((brb gonna pick up some Krispy Kreme Donuts on the way to moving to the apartment...)

EXCITING NEWS!

Oh ya know just happy dancing all around the bedroom because it's official (!!!!) I am doing this whole blogging thing for real, and just purchased a domain... from now on this little brookiewords (lol I always was a little shameful of my url) is officially...

And all you faithful readers, don't worry nothing will change... the bloglovin should be updated and LookBrooke will finally feel like a real blog!!!

THANK YOU: YOU AMAZING READERS, COMMENTERS, AND FOLLOWERS... YOU ARE WHAT INSPIRED ME TO PURSUE THIS CRAZY DREAM OF MINE. I am so excited for what else is in store for LookBrooke :)

#breakyoumake

Some pretty crazy things have been happening as of late, our family is moving out of our current house and I am moving my parents and sister into their new loft (all in two weeks... seeing as me and my dad head for Jersey then.) I can't explain how truly excited I am summer, my summer consists of working as a beach tag checker (I know, I know broken record for those of you that aren't new) so growing up with the beach 247 for each summer has been an amazing gift. When I heard about Chobani's #breakyoumake campaign in honor of their Chobani Flips, I knew immediately that my amazing boss for the past four years, Julie and Dana, deserved a break.

Not only were they my boss, Julie is like the summer mom for me and everyone else she comes into contact with... especially the beach taggers. As well Dana is like the older sister I always wished I had who I knew would drop anything to be their for us, and who of course had the best guy advice. I can't tell you the amount of times they would rearrange where different girls are working on the schedule just so that we could work with our friends, see our family while they go to the beach, or even get to see that cute lifeguard that works on the other side of the beach than where you were scheduled. (Which may have been my reason way too many times lol)
Above, that's Julie. My very first lifeguard ball I (stupidly) decided to wear these tall heeled shoes I had never worn before. (BTW lifeguard ball was on a boat...) we had sat down waiting to board the boat a little ways off and my shoe got stuck in the gravel lol... and I fell. The dress I was wearing had a slit in the back and well when I fell I had ripped the dress and made the slit even wider, exposing my underwear. So I quickly put on spandex shorts (hallelujah one of the girls had some) and we tried to shut the slit with a beach tag pin lol. It didn't work, I couldn't sit... or really walk... and the slit kept getting bigger and bigger. Julie had met all of us to send us off, and I ran to her telling her what happened. Immediately she grabbed me, took me into one of the surfer shops and bought me a new dress and a bracelet for good luck. (Which I still wear) Another girl gave me her flip flops and I gave her my heels and the day was saved, no more ripped dress lol. That is just the type of person she is, always there for you no matter what.. I mean my boss bought me a whole new dress. It still touches my heart to this day.  Along with being the director she also is a teacher, and for the first bit of summer she is going back and forth with finishing teaching and being our boss during the weekends. She never looks tired and is always clear in mind. I don't know how she does it.

Above that's Dana. She is one of the hardest working people I know, and I don't mean just in her supervising position in beach tagging. She is currently studying at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, since I met her she has always inspired me to dream big and see my dreams as goals and a reality... not as pipe dreams. She unfortunately won't be returning as a supervisor since se is heading on into the big world and finishing up her studies. She is one of those rare people you always aspire to be because they can manage time in a way I just can't... she knows how to have fun but also get the work done. She is extremely caring towards each of us, I remember my first year beach tagging one of the lifeguards heckled me because they knew my parents were a little strict on me and I was pretty sheltered growing up... saying repeatedly "does your dad know you're here." I remember her coming to my rescue saying "leave our Brooke alone!" The same night I ripped my dress, I called her sobbing saying I ripped my dress, I ripped my dress. While she was awkwardly trying to calm me down while in line at best buy with the geek squad trying to fix her computer lol.
People often say their role models are people in movies, tv, sports, or even on broadway... and I sometimes say that too but looking back on my life and those I know, my role models are Dana and Julie. Their hearts are too big for words... always caring for those who come into their lives. I hope to love everyone like that, and it's a struggle.. and I know it's a struggle for them too. I hope to dream as big as they do, never letting fear of rejection or obstacles stand in my way. Defying the odds and getting my voice heard.

I mean they have to look after a group of hmm 17 some girls? (And the occasional boy!) That in itself is exhausting, much less their personal life. Yet I have never felt left out, unseen, or uncared for. I only hope this summer is a form of a break for them, and that hopefully they'll have a minute to unwind and maybe even sit down with a new chobani flip and just relax.

Here's to Summer 2015 and more importantly, here is to Julie and Dana!

When You Cave

Thank you for all the sweet comments on instagram, twitter, and on the blog about reaching three years... I am so genuinely surprised and honored be a part of such an amazing community. I can't wait  for the future and all the things I have in store for LookBrooke ((and that you for sticking with me as I try new things and am kinda stumbling around... like this post lol))

Sometimes you cave and something beautiful happens: you find a new favorite store, a new passion, or maybe you just find a new outfit staple. Can you believe that for yearssss I hated Old Navy (I know such a travesty) I wouldn't even set foot in the store then about two years ago I caved went into the store... and fell in love.

And believe it or not this jean jacket (that I am obsessed with) was found at Old Navy and a little story about me and jean jackets... I hated them. They were never my style and I really didn't understand them... that is until I knew I needed something to go with my white dress for a party and new the jean jacket was the way to go. ((That and I may have been a little influenced by how amazing Taylor Morgan can pull off a jean jacket... I'm obsessed, she's like a soul sister)) I am also in love with the look of lace and the contrast of the jean. ((For white lace dresses and wine lovers.. did you know shaving cream can save your white dresses from dried red wine stains... for reals))

Dress: Fire Los Angeles (similar here and here)
Jacket: Old Navy
Earrings: Francesca's (similar here and here)
Purse: Kate Spade (similar here and here)
Shoes: Target
Lip gloss: Raspberry Tart (NYX Butter Gloss)

Now I basically want to wear this outfit everyday and princess twirl because old navy and jean jackets are worth caving for ;)
